This story is about an ordinary day for an ordinary family that lived the way most people used to live: on a farm.
This is the farm. The house and barn are made of logs and stones. There are fields of wheat and corn, and pastures where grass and clover grow. In the kitchen garden there are vegetables like cabbage and parsley. A stream flows by at the foot of the hill. Behind the house, there is an orchard, and behind the orchard, the hills are covered with a forest of old trees.
Two children named Henry and Sarah live here with their Mother and Father and baby sister, Hannah. Grandmother lives here, and so does Jonas, a servant who helps with all the work. There are lots of animals that live here too.
