After supper they sit by the fire and watch the flickering flames. They talk about what they did and saw and thought during the day. The room is lit with warm yellow light from the fire. Outside, the moon shines on frosty fields, and a fox barks.
It has been an ordinary day with lots to do. Henry and Sarah are tired but it is a good kind of tired. They feel warm and safe and well fed…and they feel useful, too. That is a good way to feel at the end of the day, no matter who you are or where you live.
