A Work Visit

The tinker sits on a stump and eats some bread and cheese.  He talks with Grandmother about the news from the town and the neighbors.  Sarah listens while she gives the donkey some hay and water and strokes his long, furry ears.

“I didn’t get to go to the mill,” she thinks, “but I did get to see the tinker and his donkey!”

After lunch, Grandmother gives the tinker some work to do: a tin candle mold and a betty lamp to mend.
